FAQs

  • I am interested in the IES Program? How do I sign up?

The IES website provides helpful information about the admission process. Applications generally open in October and close early December. There are monthly virtual Information Sessions that go into depth on any important information about our two-year program and admissions. Find more information on the Information Sessions on our Events page.

What are the requirements for the IES program?

Students should be between ages 18-30 (28 in the year of admission), someone who cannot traditionally access postsecondary opportunities, independent in managing own medications, be able to maintain a schedule, daily living necessities, personal hygiene dorm cleanliness with limited support and no supervision, and able to adequately manage their own behaviors and reactions to stressful or challenging situations.

  • What is Project Focus?

Project Focus is a collaborative client-centered process designed to facilitate increased self-awareness for problem solving solutions. We use a strengths-based holistic approach through coaching with a focus on developing understanding of executive function skills and ways to compensate for deficits.

Are coaching sessions individual or in a group format and how many sessions are included?

Our coaching program is for 10 sessions and we ask students to fully commit to attending all ten sessions. All sessions are individual so we can fully address each student’s specific needs.

Who are your coaches and are they trained?

Our coaches are students working towards their PhD in exceptional education. Our program developer who is a certified coach created training materials all students who serve as coaches must complete.

Do I have a choice in who serves as my coach?

No. Our coaches work within this program as part of the requirements to fulfill their degree requirement and because of that work only designated hours and we are unable to let people choose.
